Diana Barragán is an Ecuadorian and Swiss citizen, born in New York and currently residing in Ecuador. She is a mother of two children and a proud grandmother to her lovely nine-year-old granddaughter, Sofía.

She studied Psychology under Jean Piaget in Geneva and later earned a master’s degree from the Geneva Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies. Currently, she is an Attorney at Law in Ecuador and a Founding Partner of the BARRAGÁN HONEGGER Law Firm Partners, established in 2007, where she has primarily worked in the Business Department. In 2012, she officially began her law practice.

Diana has been an active member of the International Federation of Business and Professional Women (BPW) since 1991, initially joining BPW Geneva in Switzerland. She later served twice as President of BPW Quito and once as President of BPW Ecuador.

Her international leadership within BPW includes serving as Chair of the BPW International Legislation Standing Committee, as a member of both the Constitutional Review and Reform Committee and the Constitutional Advisory Committee, and as Regional Coordinator for Latin America for two terms, until 2024.

Mariella also sits in the Board of Directors of Magtech Ltd. a company based out of Malta and who operates in the Technology Development Sectors.

Mariella was elected to the Board of BPW (Valletta) Malta in January 2016 where she served as Vice President of the Board. Roberta Metsola has been serving as the President of the European Parliament since January 2022. She was first elected to Parliament in 2013, as one of Malta’s first women MEPs. Prior to her election as MEP, President Metsola served within the Permanent Representation of Malta to the EU and as the legal advisor to the Union’s High Representative for Foreign Affairs & Security Policy. Professionally she is a lawyer specialised in European law and politics. She graduated from the University of Malta and the College of Europe in Bruges.

Hon. Ms Rebecca Buttigieg currently serves as Parliamentary Secretary for Reforms and Equality within the Ministry for Home Affairs, Security and Reforms. She holds a B.A. in International Relations from the University of Malta and continued to further her studies at the University of Edinburgh having graduated in 2015 with an MSc in Global Crime, Justice and Security.

Hon. Former President of Malta, Marie Louise Coleiro Preca served in politics for 45 years and was a Member of Parliament for 16 years. She was the very first elected female General Secretary of one of the two main political parties in Malta. Coleiro Preca also served at the Council of Europe. As Minister for the Family and Social Solidarity, she initiated numerous social reforms. The Maltese Parliament unanimously elected Ms Coleiro Preca as President of Malta in 2014. Elaine Bowers Coventry is the President of Operations Europe East for The Coca-Cola Company, overseeing 26 countries in eastern, southern and central Europe.

She served as the Chief Customer and Commercial Officer of The Coca-Cola Company from 2019-2023, responsible for the Customer & Commercial Leadership function which encompassed revenue growth management, integrated execution and customer development. Ms. Jeanelle Aquilina is the Head of Corporate Tax at Tri-Mer Services Limited. She mainly practices in the areas of corporate and tax restructuring as well as domestic and international tax advisory both for local and international clients.

Prof. Joseph Borg is a Maltese biomedical laboratory scientist, academic, and space life science researcher passionate about pushing scientific boundaries for the benefit of health on Earth and in space. He is the lead scientist behind Malta’s first-ever space biology experiment, Project Maleth. Which sent human skin tissue samples from diabetic foot ulcers to the International Space Station (ISS) aboard multiple SpaceX missions. The goal: to understand how bacteria behave differently in space and to help patients back on Earth.

He lectures at the University of Malta, where he mentors and leads a young, dynamic team of researchers, many of whom are talented women pursuing careers in science. She is an MFSA authorised Risk Manager and Money Laundering Reporting Officer.

She is a Chartered Director, a qualification conferred by the Institute of Directors, UK, has lectured Risk Management at the University of Malta and still lectures at the same university and other institutes on Securitisation.

Maria Ylenia Farrugia is a Manager at the MDIA, where she is responsible for the implementation of EU regulations pertaining to data governance and innovation. Academically, she has built a robust foundation that seamlessly integrates science, data, and management. Following the completion of an undergraduate Bachelor’s Degree in Science at the University of Malta, she further advanced her expertise with a Master of Science in Neuroscience, during which her data-focused research was published in a peer-reviewed scientific journal. Her commitment to continuous learning led her to achieve a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Suffolk.

Before joining the MDIA, Maria Ylenia developed substantial expertise in Regulatory Affairs while working at the Malta Competition and Consumer Affairs Authority (MCCAA). Marina Gerth joined BPW in 2023 and is member of the BPW Club Karlsruhe in Germany. Born in 1990, she is also member of the Young BPW. She works as Executive Consultant in a global IT and Business Consultancy firm. Her focus is in Business Analysis, Business Consulting and Project Management. Thus she supports her clients in their Digital Transformation and Digitization of services. She is about to take the step into a management position. Not only with BPW but also at work, Marina’s aim is to connect people of all genders around ‘female’ topics. Anne has completed her PhD in business and administration at Aalto University in 2023, a master’s degree in social sciences at Joensuu University in 1998, and pedagogical studies in 1998. Anne works as the director of continuous learning services at the University of Tampere. Lucrecia has contributed to mentoring initiatives in Bulgaria through Mentorite.bg, supported international trade as Manager of Institutional Relations at Argentina’s export promotion agency, and led cultural programs as the Executive Director of Centro Cultural Bajos del Barolo in Buenos Aires.

Her academic background includes a Master’s in Governance and Public Management from George Washington University, a Master’s in Applied Public Administration from the Polytechnic University of Madrid, and a Public Accounting degree from the University of Buenos Aires.

Jenni Valta is the board member of BPW Finland and Association member of BPW Mikkeli. She has extensive educational and work experience. She has a diverse and impressive educational and professional background. Jenni holds a Master’s degree in Social Sciences and is currently working on her doctoral dissertation on the topic of “Competence Development from a Leadership Perspective.” She is part of the “Impactful Leadership” research group at the University of Eastern Finland. Additionally, Jenni is a trained solution-focused psychotherapist. She has also studied  psychology and law alongside leadership.

Jenni has over 20 years of experience in leadership roles as a development and HR director, as well as a member of executive teams. Currently, she works as an HR Director at Finnos Oy, a global company in the industrial sector. Moreover, Jenni teaches at a university of applied sciences, supervising theses, and also teaches leadership courses at the University of Eastern Finland.
